Jack

Hey, it's a new character, reviving a story idea that i thought had died!

Meet Jack. He's several hundred years old, completely mad, and quite willing to admit it. (which really does make me wonder just how insane he is...)

He was appointed by some sort of god-like being to be the protector of the race from various monsters that dwell in the land. (kinda like the monsters in Final Fantasy, though these ones are more likely to start fires and eat children than stay in the wilderness.) I'm not quite sure why he was chosen, but I think he had something to do with the creation of the monsters.

He had a wife when he was appointed. Her name was Brynn. He got to watch her grow old and die. It probably helped his madness.

There's also the fact that he's pretty much forced to live in a small temple in the mountains. It's shielded by some magicy-thing, so he can only leave when there are people being terrorized. (he does instantly know, and he can get there pretty darn fast... though he may take his time getting back.) He could very easily not go back, but since the people he saves are more terrified of him and his powers then they are of the monsters, he doesn't really have anywhere else to go.

Now, he's tended to by an order of sisters who, for some reason I don't know yet, don't ever talk inside the temple, or to him in general.And since they're really the only ones there, and the people in towns are more likely to run away than to strike up a conversation, the silence is the main thing that drove him mad. So he took up yelling and insulting the sisters whenever they entered his temple, in an attempt to get a rise out of them. It doesn't really work, since they're more terrified of the Matron then they are of him. Except for Riana, who gets angry easily.

..But that's too much to go into now!

also: there is a little waled-off garden at the temple, where he's eating a sandwich in the picture. And ultra-powerful beings with unimpressive names are hilarious.
