[ I added some details as to what the creature looked like and why the United States waited so long to send troops in, along with a bit of information on why they sent any in at all. I kept information on the narrator in the dark on purpose, but I added a few details on it, along with some information on the breeding bit and on the scientists and mind control.]

They hadn't meant any harm.

That's what we need to remind ourselves. That they didn't mean to unearth this. That they couldn't have known.

For over ten years, they'd been up in that frozen wasteland, drilling. Scans had shown that there was liquid water, trapped thousands of feet below the ice sheet. It had been separated from the rest of the world for millions of years - who knew what secrets might lurk down there?

Everything seemed to go so smoothly. Then the reports came - they had found something. And they were going to unveil it in Moscow.

Well, to be more specific, only one of the scientists was going to unveil it. Though there had been many people on the team, they had all reportedly "died from he cold," and their bodies had been lost on the tundra. Only one man survived. One, to take all the glory of their discovery.

But once the ceremony was held, it was like the entire city had suddenly ceased to exist. No one took or sent a phone call, or logged onto the internet.

The silence seemed to slowly spread outside of the city. many, many debates rose - should we send troops into Russia, to see what was going on, or should we allow the Russian government to handle things by themselves? We had never been on very good standing with Russia, and a lot of people just wanted to leave them alone, but when the city of Mogilev in Belarus fell prey to the silence as well, the president finally sent some troops into the city. But we quickly lost contact with them as well. Though one soldier had managed to send back the video feed of the event.

We didn't get to see the video. Not until it leaked that the government was air-lifting the thing to US soil. After that, the tape was played on every news station in the country.

Nothing overly strange actually happens - the main focus is on the thing that's hidden behind the gaudy red curtain. The scientists say a lot off stuff, all of it in Russian, before the curtain goes up. A few people scream, but most just seemed to have been shocked into silence. Because staring at them from behind a thin sheet of plexiglass is this... thing. The camera was in the very back of the crowd, so it was a bit difficult to make out the details, but it seemed to be a giant grey-black fish. It bore a resemblance to a shark, though it had to be at least five times larger than any great white.

Then the cameraman says something, that roughly translates to "I am recording this event," and the video ends.

The anchorman says that the creature has been identified as a C. Megalodon, which was thought to go extinct long ago.

And everything just seemed to go downhill from there.

I suppose all this had made me a lot more mature. I don't particularly want to be mature, don't feel the need for it, but we have to say that the shark is certainly very mature, or at least very sure of what it wants. And what it wants most is food. Today is feeding day for me. I had to take a plane up to Alaska for it, me and a lot of others from my class. We're only in third grade. Is that too young to be taking a plane to Alaska, without any adults? I think it ma be, but that's really the least of my worries. If I was allowed to have any. It wouldn't let any of us worry, or cry, or fear. Not out of any sort of attachment, mind you - it just finds that sort of thing to be disgusting. I would rather do anything else, but I can feel the shark's consciousness cutting into mine, filling me with its own ideas and memories until I'm not even sure of what to believe in anymore. There was no way it would let me go.

It had an idea, one it was nearly finished with the research team that discovered it. It seems as though the mind control can only cover so big of an area by itself - after that, it spreads by contact. Not many people would be willing to travel up to the Arctic - it would be so much better if someone where to bring him to us. I guess the scientist was just a pawn, completely disposable once the shark was in Moscow. It had gotten smarter though, after Moscow. There, it had simply made everyone jump into its tank. Here, it had established a strict control over everyone. It was smart enough to realize that we wouldn't last forever. Once it got someone to bring its family down from the lake, it established a strict breeding policy. They were constantly hungry, so we would have to give birth to as many children as possible  - and so far, we haven't even began to sate their hunger.

And today, It's my turn. Well, all of us on the plane. We get to be fed to a monstrosity of a fish.
I'm posting this here because the VHS website doesn't let me copy and paste, and I am not freaking re-typing this.

In the end, the teacher had to peer edit it, since no one else would. Just a little depressing, but not really unusual. It doesn't seem to matter where i am or what I do - if it involves me, it will get passed over. This is why I need a small collage...
